The nervousness of Clinton’s supporters is tangible as the pendulum is shifting inexorably to the right but they have found an unbelievable explanation for their misfortune: the double standard of mainstream media against their cheerleader.
Every day brings a batch of opinion polls. A record of 19 opinion polls was tallied by Real Clear Politics on September 14. Seven were in favor of Clinton, one was tie, and the twelve others showed a lead of the villain duck.
⇒ According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, double standard is a set of principles that applies differently and usually more rigorously to one group of people or circumstances than to another.
In her campaign plane filled with lackey reporters, Hillary Clinton said, “there is a different standard for Trump than for me.” It was an allusion to the republican congressional representative Jason Chaffetz. The Chairman of the House Oversight committee had opened a new investigation on her e-mails. Who could blame him whereas the FBI director James Comey did it utmost to sweeten her responsibility? The sentence for such a felony is a ten year’s imprisonment. But, as you know, the Clinton’s are above the law.
In that instance, it is not a question of double standard because the villain duck has never worked in the sovereign power. Because he has never handled classified information, he cannot be judged. Therefore, the allegation of Hillary is irrelevant.
A double standard requires that both candidates be treated differently for the same subject. The coverage of two grieving families at the two national conventions illustrates perfectly that notion of double standard.
At the Republican National Convention held in Cleveland, Ohio, Pat Smith blamed Hillary Clinton for the death of her son at the American embassy in Benghazi, Libya, on September 11, 2012. Sean Smith was the U.S. Foreign Service information management officer (prosaically the person in charge of coding and decoding secret cables between the embassy and the State Department). The protection of the compound was lax to say the least on that ominous anniversary date.
“When I saw Hillary Clinton at Sean’s coffin ceremony, just days later, she looked me squarely in the eye and told me a video was responsible. Since then, I have repeatedly asked Hillary Clinton to explain me the reason why my son is dead. I am still waiting,” said the inconsolable mother.
A week later at the Democratic National Convention held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Khizr Khan and his wife Ghazala blamed Donald Trump for his proposed ban on Muslim immigration. Their son Humayan was an Army Captain who was killed in 2004 during the Iraq War.
Each family, let it be Smith or Khan, deserved understanding and compassion for their suffering. Let see now the coverage of mainstream media.
A textbook of double standard
In the two weeks that followed Smith’s accusation of Clinton (July 19, August 2) ABC granted it 13 seconds, CBS 50 seconds, and NBC 54 seconds. The coverage of her speech was a total of 117 seconds.
In the five days that followed Khan’s accusation of Trump (July 29, August 2), ABC granted it 22 minutes, CBS 23 minutes, and NBC 39 minutes.
The tally of the two stories is as follows: 85 minutes for Khan’s family, and less than two minutes for Pat Smith. Therefore, Khan’s story was aired 42 times more than Smith’s story.
As the Khan’s story matched the democratic agenda, the partisan mainstream media pushed it as hard as possible. On the other hand, Smith’s story, which tarnished the image of their cheerleader, was barely mentioned.
There is nothing new under the sun of self-righteous liberals
Is it necessary to add that the same thing is happening in Europe where the coverage is equally farcical?
Let it be a crummy B movie actor in 1980 or a hopeless heir of a dynasty in 2000, it is the same deprecating tone regarding republican candidates. Let it be a chivalrous young candidate in 1960 or the coming of a black messiah in Berlin in 2008, it is the same ecstatic tone regarding democrat candidates.

Hi
I think that the inflection point of the curve took place the last week of August. Trump win in november
oui,c’est bien, cela doit être très intéressant, mais pourquoi envoyé ce commentaires à des français dont la plupart ne comprennent pas un mot d’anglais.
What is the good question , my dear !
indeed!
Agree !
According to a recent poll, 77% among Americans don’t trust ‘the media’. Many don’t even have a TV at home. Actually, there is no media anymore both sides of the Atlantic, there is a propaganda apparatus financed by the powers that be. Like the Pravda during the Soviets’ reign – but who needs a Pravda in the internet era?
Social medias are the main source of information for young electors
it is said that Twitter is non partisan media unlike Facebook
but as I do not use social media, my expertise is vain.
