We learned today that the Israeli branch of CNN, located in Jerusalem, is downsizing to cope with reduced income from less advertising.
What goes beyond good management is that CNN has fired four Israeli Jewish journalists (out of a crew of 8), and has retained only Arab journalists. Where, until now, CNN always sent a Jewish and an Arab journalist to cover information, now there will be only an Arab journalist. The local chief editor of the News Chanel is now a non Jewish (when we first learned that the new bureau chief was not Jewish, we misconcluded that he was an Arab, but he is neither Jewish or Arab).
This is a conflict where information is central to public opinion, and it weighs a lot on diplomatic decisions. Furthermore, it is no secret that Arab journalists cannot freely publish what they want without risking for their own lives when traveling to Gaza, East Jerusalem, and Judea Samaria. Thus, CNN decision to fire all Jewish journalists from its Jerusalem office is of particular concern, because the general public is unaware that they will be receiving biased information from CNN.

cher J-P, dans un contexte normale je vous dirais que la religion n’est pas importante et que l’essentiel juif ou musulman est que le travail ou l’information passe en priorité. Mais hélas comme vous le dites si bien, nous aurons dorenavant des informations biaisees provenant de CNN. Aujourd’hui l’information est primordiale et malheureusement CNN a une couverture internationale et est très suivie par les masses. Il nous faut trouver ou créer un contre poids de l’information tel que CNN, Dreuz fait très bien ce travail et je ne vous remercierais jamais assez mais cela reste quand meme très confidentiel voire très communautaire. Il faut des intervenants de statures internationale dont les idées sont écoutées par un large publique.

So many news channels, not just CNN, are openly and intentionally deceptive in their reporting. This sort of thing is fine because it may just make a few people more aware of how badly they are being manipulated to hate Jews.
About 15 years ago, I went with a group of about 80 people to pray at the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hevron. For some unexplained reason, we were not allowed to enter the Tomb to pray. So we prayed outside the entrance. Because our backs were to the street, the IDF placed 3-4 soldiers behind us to protect us while we prayed.
When I got home 6 hours later, I turned on CNN and saw myself on the news. The reporter stated that the IDF had to place soldiers between the ‘religious fanatics’ and the local Arabs to keep the fanatics from attacking the Arabs.
That was the last time I ever watched CNN.
My husband had a similar experience with Christian Amamapour in Bosnia during the war.
He witnessed the CNN staff set a car on fire so that they could film her in front of the fire, to “fake” that something was happening.
CNN is a propaganda tool for Arabs, and nothing they do surprises me.
My ‘beef’ with this; we already can’t trust AP for these very reasons, we can’t trust Fox on the subject because of his Saudi Prince 7% ownership, and now we also can’t trust what CNN reports on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Of course CNN’s reporting should always be taken with a grain of salt – but this has the outwardly sign of a blatant set-up.
Of course, the version of CNN broadcasted outside of the U.S. has always seemed more leftist to me than CNN Channel broadcasted in the U.S. They do cater to their leftist European audience; now we can all be one happy family sharing the same fallacies.

Without any knowledge beyond your gut feelings, you call this article a lie (albeit in a more graphic and immature way). Do you believe CNN is going to word the firing of these Jewish journalists to your liking? You are obviously a liberal and not so obviously an Islamic sympathizer who is probably rooting for the Palestinians to drive the Israel (read: the Jews), into the sea. Mr. Grumberg told you to “get a life.” I say first, you need to get a brain.
See, the funny thing about that is, CNN can either confirm or deny, and it shouldnt be too tough to corroborate, one way or the other. As it stands right now, all we have is one un-named “reliable source”. That doesnt even begin to meet basic journalistic standards.
We do have the names of the 4 journalists who got the boot, for one thing, they are the ones, apparently, who leaked the news, but you can always contact them if you wish. Plus we have the words of Pamela Geller and Mr. Grumberg, and these two carry more weight than the whole main stream collabo media as far as I am concerned.
Since the scoop is all over the blogosphere, CNN may answer that their decision to cut in half their staff in Israel was due to budgetary difficulties (that’s the good news), that it had nothing to do with bias (they don’t even know what “bias” means, I bet), and that whatever the change in staff, the same (non-existant) fairness toward Israel will continue to prevail (their Editor in Chief there is an Arab “palestinian” who dreams of nothing more than eradicating Israel, but no matter).
Whatever the case, with or without Jewish journalists, CNN doesn’t provide news, only propaganda. I haven’t watched this channel (and the other main stream ones, for that matter) for decades – their titles alone are enough to make you sick – and I am not the only one. It’s good to see that we are contributing to the financial collapse of that rag.
It isn’t unusual for the liberal media to ignore events they don’t care to publicize! In fact, that’s the very reason I read news on the internet… What’s your reason? The French are especially used to thought-control from their state subsidized media, a softly tyrannical society where any idea outside the spectrum of “pensee unique” is ditched.
It seems to me these fired journalists need to be interviewed, and their story publicized by another news media; we have several in the U.S. ie: CNSNews.com which covers news stories the liberal media ignore. Media Research Center may be another. But to break a story, you need an informant – even a nameless one. And to claim that “basic journalistic standard” is not achieved because there’s a nameless source is dismissive of the past.. Journalists have broken stories without revealing their sources and gone to jail for it; ever heard of McDougall? Judith Miller? Farber? A likely scenario here is that the fired journalists have some ‘dismissal agreement’ where they agreed to keep their mouth shut in exchange of financial compensation. And as journalists they were likely bound by hiring Contracts with CNN.
I sure would like to know more about this, and since I have never known JPG to make up stories – it is of CNN that I am skeptical.

Why do people keep watching these channels? Why complain and continue to watch this shameless propaganda? What is the idea, that some day, out of the blue CNN will stop throwing garbage at us and start telling the truth? Anyone who keeps watching CNN is contributing to their collaboration with the enemy.

In response to inaccurate reports, CNN has strongly denied since Friday rumors that it no longer employs Israeli Jews in its Jerusalem bureau.
The company has said:
“CNN has recently reviewed its worldwide operations, an exercise we do regularly to ensure operational and technological efficiency in everything we do. As part of this exercise, we have reorganized the CNN bureau in Jerusalem.”
To counter misinformation reported on various websites, the company has confirmed:
“CNN currently has seven employees working in CNN’s Jerusalem bureau, four of whom are Jewish. There is no basis in fact for these reports.”
“Some website reports also state that CNN’s Jerusalem bureau chief is Arab, which is also untrue.”
“CNN strongly rejects any suggestion that the reorganization in the Jerusalem bureau is in any way based on the small number of contract employees concerned being Israeli, particularly given CNN’s long history of working with locals in the region.”

I made a stupid mistake: when I heard that the bureau chief was not Jewish anymore, I understood that he is Arab. It did not cross my mind that he could be neither Jew or Arab, so I corrected my information.
Beside that, the rest of my story still holds: they fired four Jewish journalists out of a crew of eight, so fair coverage of the conflict is more damaged than ever. And when it comes to Israel, CNN long pattern of biases is so obvious, there are so many of them all over the web, that my story is preoccupying. Now if you intend to defend CNN ethics on Israel, don’t bother, I don’t have time for that.

CNN is playing around. The issue is not CNN not employing Jews, but CNN not employing journalist Jews. I understand you see the difference but did not notice their phrasing. BTW, they still did not answer me on that.

Nice spin CNN, we’ve grown accustomed to your twisting of words by now (« CNN has 4 employees in the Jerusalem bureau that are Jewish »). The argument was never that there are no Jewish folks employed, but rather that the four JOURNALISTS are not Jews; Whether the girl answering the phone, or the clerk bringing coffee to other staff belong to the Jewish faith is irrelevant, what matters is – To which side belong the reporters who disseminate the propaganda? So which is true CNN – do you or do you not have Jewish journalists at your Jerusalem bureau? Because if you don’t, all your reporting from that explosive part of the world – is one sided.

Looking at the update at the top of the page, it looks like we are talking about an editor, a producer, and a cameraman, and possibly another “desk producer.” Are “editors” and “producers” actually journalists? I don’t know the jargon.
JPG can certainly get to the bottom of this and call CNN Jerusalem. I see that Guy A. has written for CNN for a few years; Is Guy Azriel an actual Reporter employed by CNN or is he a subcontracted Journalist who writes for CNN on occasion?

Ce débat, auquel participaient Monsieur Joël Mergui président du Consistoire Israélite de France et le rabbin Bruno Fiszon, vétérinaire, vous vous êtes évertuée à en faire un procès d’intention. Et, bien que confinés dans un rôle d’accusés, ce sont eux qui vous maintenaient fermement sur votre fauteuil de procureur tout au long de votre prestation, chaque fois que vous étiez hors sujet. Et vous l’étiez en permanence, alors que le sujet était la souffrance des animaux :
– À la 7ème minute et 10ème seconde, la taxe rabbinique que vous évoquiez est un accord tacite entre israélites et dont vous n’avez nul droit de vous immiscer. Mais vous le faites pour établir et conforter l’amalgame grossier de l’argent et des juifs.
– À la 8ème minute et 14ème seconde du débat, vous vous trémoussiez de satisfaction après avoir posé une question à Monsieur Mergui, question que vous croyiez imparable, pour ensuite vous mordiller les lèvres, gesticuler, et, pour peu, lancer un cri de victoire. Secondes hallucinantes, Madame Goy-Chavent, revoyez ce moment… C’était à ne rien comprendre à votre jubilation : en quoi la liberté de conscience des uns (manger casher) peut-elle interférer avec celle des autres, (manger non casher) ? Si ce n’est que votre volonté affirmée de dresser un procès d’intention à la communauté israélite de France.
– À la 18ème minute et 30ème seconde, vous évoquez les pratiques d’abattage en Israël. Là encore, pourquoi parler de ce pays, quand ce débat se déroule en France ? Ce n’est un secret pour personne : vous n’aimez pas Israël.
– À la 21ème minute, comme pratiquement durant toute cette comédie, vous ne cessez de dodeliner de la tête, de sourire en coin, de jouer des lèvres et du regard… Et vos haussements d’épaules à répétition, vos jeux de mains à la marionnettiste, vos soupirs de fausse exaspération, vos mimiques, où donc vous croyiez-vous, sur une scène de spectacle ? Je vous recommande fortement de revoir l’enregistrement, ce qui vous permettrait d’adopter une attitude plus conforme à votre titre lors de vos prochains débats.
– À la 22ème minute et 11ème seconde, vous demeurez de bois, lorsque Monsieur Mergui vous éclairait sur le respect que le Judaïsme accorde aux animaux. – À la 43ème minute et 56ème seconde, vous persistez à dire que les scientifiques (certifiant que la bête abattue selon les règles de la casherout ne souffre pas outre mesure), sont juifs, vous faites preuve là d’une nette propension à l’antisémitisme, cet antisémitisme d’autant plus sournois et dangereux que vous le vouliez subtil.
– À la 59ème minute et 22ème seconde, un intervenant se mêle les pinceaux et discrédite lui aussi la pertinence d’un tel débat ; tout comme les autres intervenants, dont Madame la Présidente, Bernadette Bourzaj qui, elle, ne trouve pas ses mots pour justifier la nécessité de cette rencontre. Tant de temps et de moyens perdus, rien que pour vous, Madame Goy-Chavent !
Ce débat, initié par vos soins, était une véritable tartufferie à laquelle Messieurs Joël Mergui et
Bruno Fiszon s’étaient pourtant prêtés avec tact et patience, face au procès d’intention, indigne de toute instance gouvernementale. Dans le rôle de procureur que vous vous êtes assignée, votre prestation était plutôt celle d’un médiocre universitaire dans sa soutenance de thèse, tant vos connaissances en la matière étaient superficielles.
De quoi s’agissait-il, au juste, dans cette absurde commedia del arte ? De votre humanisme à l’égard de certains animaux, élevés et abattus en territoire français, sur lesquels vous verseriez des larmes parce qu’ils ne sont pas assommés avant d’être abattus ? Mais pour que votre humanisme soit pris en considération, il aurait fallu que vous soyez une Brigitte Bardot végétarienne avant toute chose et que vous l’ayez signifié tout au début.
N’était-ce Monsieur Mergui, qui vous éclairait et vous guidait dans votre stratégie, personne dans les tribunes n’aurait compris où vous vouliez en venir. Vous le savez maintenant, les porcs (carnivores de leur état, mangeurs de leurs propres excréments pour l’avoir constaté dans mon enfance), le cheval – meilleur ami de l’homme -, les carnassiers, les charognards, les oiseaux de proie, les bestioles de mer, bref tout ce qui n’est pas ruminant et ayant le sabot fendu, tout ce qui n’a pas d’écailles et de nageoires, tout cela est impropre à la consommation pour celles et ceux qui désirent manger casher… Tout comme le sang des animaux, après abattage, l’est également : d’où l’absorption du sang des viandes crues par le sel, pour que seules les fibres musculaires demeurent. Bref, des règles d’hygiène alimentaire datant de plus de 2000 ans. Pas mal, n’est-ce pas, pour un peuple à la nuque raide, et dont les préceptes alimentaires ont préservé les mangeurs casher des scandales et des méfaits du commerce de la vache folle. Vous vous en souvenez ?
Vous prétendez, âme sensible, que la bête souffre si elle est n’est pas assommée avant d’être égorgée. Qu’en savez-vous ? Une vache, un agneau, un mouton ressuscité serait-il venu vous le dire ? Vous avanciez des arguments scientifiques et Messieurs Mergui et Fiszon en avançaient de plus fiables.
Lorsque Monsieur Mergui évoquait la pratique de la chasse et des corridas, interdite dans la religion juive, vous rétorquiez que la chasse, (cribler de plomb un cerf dans un bois), ce n’est pas grave, quand on songe à l’agonie d’un chevreuil ou d’une biche blessée ; et la pratique barbare des corridas vous laisse de glace… vous qui clamez vouloir éviter la souffrance aux animaux. Une telle bévue ne pouvait que vous discréditer sur le champ. Zéro pointé, Madame Goy-Chaven.
Encore une fois, ce débat n’était rien d’autre qu’une tartufferie. Les chiffres, les statistiques que Messieurs Mergui et Fiszon vous soumettaient, ne risquaient pas de vous faire dévier d’un degré de votre parti pris. Vous leur lanciez, avant même d’en prendre note, être certaine de ne pas être convaincue. N’a-t-on jamais vu une telle manifestation de mauvaise foi, vous, une sénatrice, prise en flagrant délit de mauvaise foi ! Craindriez-vous de donner raison au dicton disant qu’il n’y a que les imbéciles qui ne changent pas d’avis ?
À chercher ainsi de poux là où il n’y en a pas, l’on se demande à qui cela profite. Et votre prochain débat serait sur quoi ? La circoncision en France, les façades des synagogues, les tenues vestimentaires juives, le port de la kipa, le placement de la mezouzasur les portes d’entrée juives ? En quoi cela vous regarde, toutes ces pratiques religieuses juives datant de 2000 ans ? Ou, en vérité, une tactique pour exacerber sournoisement le sentiment antisémite qui n’est que trop ancré et de plus en plus galopant en France.
Madame Goy-Chavent, cela ne fait pas l’ombre d’un doute, vous êtes une antisémite, ayez le courage de l’assumer pleinement, sans faux semblant… Mais c’est dans l’espoir qu’il vous reste tout de même une part de bonne foi, que je vous suggère de lire l’essai intitulé L’antisémitisme expliqué aux antisémites de Frédéric Ray Yvellin. Vous comprendrez tout, et peut-être même feriez-vous votre mea culpa, au point de devenir une amie des Juifs et d’Israël.
