Adolf Hitler’s manifesto was Promoted in « the recommended section » in Qatar branch of Virgin, because as many people know it, ‘Mein Kampf’ is a best seller in the arab world.

The book was quickly removed from the « recommended section » after twitter users published a picture (above) showing Mein Kempf at the entrance of the Megastore, and the image went viral.

What people don’t know because there is no existing picture, is that at about the same time, Paris Virgin Megastore Champs Elysee hid the new French best seller « Facing radical islam » (Face à l’islam radical). This book was written in French by the American specialist on Islam, Daniel Pipes and French Professor Guy Milliere.

When he heard about it, the French publisher David Reinharc paid a visit to the Champs Elysee Megastor to see for himself if the book was on the shelves – David knew that the bookstore had received several copies, and since they did not reorder it, the books should still be there.

When he realized that the book was nowhere to be found, Reinharc asked a saleswoman, and was told that « the book is not available ». Then he was told by a store manager that « Virgin refuses to order it because it does not match the bookstore policy »

After David told him that refusing to sell a book is illegal in France, the Megastore manager said they would « get a few copies », but « they don’t have to put them on display ». Virgin Megastore Champs Elysées had, in fact, a few copies of the book in stock.

For Virgin, some radicals are more kosher than others.
